Sermon Title: “God’s Grace For All Peoples” (Pastor Bob)
Sermon Text: Joshua 2:1-24
Sermon Summary:
Like Joshua, Rahab appears in the NT 3 times. The book of Joshua does not begin with judgment on the peoples of Canaan but with God’s grace and mercy. Not only was Rahab a Gentile, but she was also an Amorite. The Amorites were singled out by God for their sin. God told Abraham his descendants would not receive the land of Canaan until the iniquity of the Amorites was completed (Gen. 15:16). Add to this, she was a prostitute. Yet without a Bible she heard of God’s great deeds against the Egyptians and said, “for the LORD your God, he is God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath (2:11)” What faith! A faith, even willing to put her life on the line for what she believed. God has not changed. He is still a God of grace and mercy saving both Jews and Gentiles.
Meditation: Habakkuk 3:6
He stood and measured the earth; he looked and shook the nations; then the eternal mountains were scattered; the everlasting hills sank low. His were the everlasting ways.
