We have the perfect opportunity to make choices now that we can implement when the world reopens. There aren’t many opportunities in life to stop, take a breath, and really choose which way to move forward. God’s Word gives us comfort, direction and confidence.

Introduction

Unprecedented times can leave us asking a lot of questions. Things that might have seemed preposterous a year ago are suddenly our every day experience. Wearing masks, teleworking, home schooling, social distancing, and more have redefined how we function and relate to the world around us. While things are feeling a bit flipped upside down, this is hardly the first time history has seen such an upset. The challenge ahead of us lies not only in how we adapt to the unknown, but also how we learn to thrive and grow in its midst.

What’s Normal, Anyway?

Webster defines normal as conforming to a type, standard, or regular pattern: characterized by that which is considered usual, typical, or routine. Normal is comfortable, predictable and safe, but not necessarily the ideal environment for growth. Stepping out of our comfort zone can open a world of new opportunities.

Avoid the Drift

There are pluses and minuses found in limbo. With fewer distractions and a slower pace, it’s a great time to take a good hard look at what really matters. But, we can also easily get complacent about where we focus our attention. Netflix and video games are fun, but not much help in the long run.
