Acts

To the Ends of the Earth

Welcome To the Family

October 30, 2022 • Bob North, Lead Pastor • Acts 15:1–19

As Paul and others begin their missionary journeys throughout the land to give the good news of the gospel to everyone, there are some teachers who get upset with the new access non-Jews are receiving. They want to impose traditional rules to these newcomers. Paul makes it very clear that membership in this family of God should not be based on ethnicity or observance to the law, but on based on faith in Jesus Christ.

Your Story Is A Good Place to Start

October 23, 2022 • Dan Chavez, NC Youth Pastor • Acts 21:40—23:6

Paul is arrested and given a chance to tell his story of conversion. He tells everything from beginning to end to the crowd as they listen. They respond with anger and want him to be done away with. Paul knows that the reason for his arrest is become of his belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We all have a story to tell. Our story will be a hope to some and an opportunity for anger from others. Tell it anyway.

A New Kind of Temple

October 16, 2022 • Bob North, Lead Pastor • Acts 4:1–21

Peter and John are arrested and thrown into prison to healing a lame man who was begging at the temple. Though the man was begging at the very place where he should have received help, it does not come from the institution but from God’s people. Peter and John gives a clear reason why the man was healed. They are filled with the Holy Spirit and claim that the Jesus the people had just rejected and killed is now the very cornerstone of a new temple. The new temple is not built with brick and mortar. The new temple is built in the hearts of people.

A New Experience

October 9, 2022 • Acts 2:1–21

The church was born out of the creative action of God, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Each Christian relies on the Spirit for renewed life, just as we rely on the Spirit to enliven our local church. As you consider church growth strategies, visitor integration techniques, programs, and budgets, remember that the first church wasn’t created by clever strategies or techniques but by the actions of God the Spirit.

The Power Of One

October 2, 2022 • Bob North, Lead Pastor • Luke 24:44–49, Acts 1:1–11

As an extension to the book of Luke, Acts begins with the ascension of Jesus to take his throne at the right hand of God. He is elevated to his rightful place as true King. Before Jesus leaves, he gives his disciples important instructions. He tells them they will receive the power of the Holy Spirit to be witnesses in the world to God’s saving love. We should not shy always from giving witness to our faith because we have the same spirit living in us.
