God has a Plan! Ruth Chapter 3 and 4 The Road to Redemption! Ruth took a Risk and was rewarded with Grace!! Grace can Change our Lives!  Redemption! To buy back or “to Loose”   Kinsman Redeemer  Able, willing and empowered!  Jesus Christ is our KINSMAN REDEEMER!   Ruth 3:1-5 The Threshing Floor! Wash yourself!   We are Washed when we come to Salvation! Anoint yourself! We receive the Anointing of the Holy Spirit! Clothe Yourself! We are Clothed in Christ! Lay at his feet! We must Claim Christ as our Redeemer!  A beggar cannot spend what he has not asked for! Final Sermon from Ruth  Ruth 3:9-18  His love was irresistible!   Luke 19:10   Romans 8:35     Romans 8:37-39  Wait!  No one likes to wait.... Ruth has NO ability to Redeem herself! Ephesians 2:8-9  Jesus was the Grace of God for all humanity;   Boaz was the grace of God for Ruth  2 Corinthians 6:2   1 John 2:2      Ruth 4:1-2 Ruth 4:3-4 Ruth 4:5-8   Deuteronomy 23:3 IF Boaz is a picture of Christ; Then this unnamed kinsman can be a picture of the Law Romans 3:20   Ruth 4:6.. I cannot redeem!  This is the Law! Galatians 3:23-29   LOVE is the Difference between the unnamed kinsmen and Boaz. Ruth 4:9-12                                                 Ruth 4: 13-22     Obed= servant of the Lord… Ruth 4:17-22  imperative to the genealogy of the bible.. Matthew 1:16-17  God does things in order….  He has a plan! Jeremiah 29:11 Do you Trust Him?   Will you Obey Him?  Are you willing to take a Risk of Faith for Him?

On top of the hill to catch the afternoon and evening winds. Naomi says Boaz will be at the Threshing Floor tonight! Ruth 3:2-5 Naomi tells her 4 steps to take in order to approach Boaz. I want to challenge you today in these 4 directives from Naomi! Wash yourself! We are Washed when we come to Salvation! Titus 3:4-8 John 3:3-7 Ephesians 2:8-9 Anoint yourself! The Road to Redemption!  We must Learn to Live by Faith NCF spells Faith - RISK!!!                We Must Learn to Lean on Grace   Hebrews 11:6  His Grace is a Great Reward!!  Today: Ruth 2:13-16   Is Boaz focused on the harvest or Ruth? Love begins to blossom.  Men provide and protect Grace can Change our Lives!! PSALM 30:1-5   Ephesians 2:12   Ephesians 2:19     Ruth 2:17-18       Ruth2:19-20              Ruth 2:21-23 The Harvest is about 6 weeks! Redemption!                                                                                                  English; to buy back! Liberation of any person, possession or object by means of payment of ransom!    Greek “to Loose”    God gave the LAW for His Land and for His People. 1 Peter 2:9      Leviticus 25:23-28 Provision for the Land to be Redeemed “Kinsman Redeemer”    Leviticus 25:9-10  Year of JUBILEE! TRUMPET SOUND for Liberty, Purchase, Release! 1 Cor. 15:51-52      Leviticus 25:47-49 Redeemed from Slavery.   Kinsman Redeemer is our only Hope!   Deuteronomy 25:5-6 Redemption of Widows. Deuteronomy 25:7-9   Job 19:25   Revival of Hope!     LUKE 21:25-28

Leaning on Grace! Ruth Ch. 2:1-13 The Road to Redemption!   Last week. Ruth 1:19-21 IS THIS NAOMI? The WASH POT had changed Pleasant to Bitter  Romans 12:2 Conformed - “schematizo” shaped or formed into a mold or pattern                          Naomi left Full She came back Empty! Ephesians 1:3     Ruth 2:1-3 WORK ETHIC!! Nehemiah 4:6      We must Learn to Live by Faith.. take a RISK!                                     God’s Word had made provision for the Poor!   Leviticus 19:9-10 God’s compassion made provision for the Poor and the Alien! 2 Cor 8:7-15 God never judges prosperity; only GREED! Isaiah 58 God says TRUE Worship is to feed, clothe and house the poor! Deuteronomy 10:18    Ruth and Naomi were willing to step out in faith; because God is Faithful! 2 Timothy 2:13  James 2:20    GOD IS FAITHFUL! GOD IS TRUSTWORTHY! GOD IS ABLE!!       We Must Learn to Lean on Grace Ruth 2:3-4 Do you think it was a coincidence she ended up in Boaz’s field?? Blessed = 3 nuances: Prosperity-Fertility-Victory  Blessing brings the power for life, the enhancement of life and the increase of life! Boaz is the tool for God’s Grace and blessing  God loves those who present themselves available!!! Ruth 2:5-13  Grace is Unmerited favor!           Ruth 2:8-9 Boaz takes the initiative! God’s grace is His plan not ours!   Hebrews 11:6 Ruth 2:13 She was grateful for kindness!! We must be a people of Grace! We must be a people who live by Faith!

Ruth Ch. 1:9-2:3 - Crossroads The Road to Redemption!   CONTEXT MATTERS! Last week   Ruth 1:14  3 women weeping at a Cross Road! Ruth 1:16-17 2 Cor. 7:10 Tears are tears; words are words. Changed lives are the evidence of Repentance!     Ruth will experience Redemption!    Orpah will not! Ruth will travel to the land of Promise, find joy, peace, hope and love there! Orpah will not!     Ruth will die in the promised land as a child of God and will rest for eternity in Paradise! Orpah will not! Today Ruth 1:19-21 Naomi used to be a joy to be around.. This woman looks and acts much differently LUKE 15:11-24   Romans 12:2  Conformed - “schematizo” shaped or formed into a mold or pattern  1 John 2:16  Ruth 1:20     Mara =Hebrew Bitter… Pleasant had become Bitter! We can’t control the circumstances of life! WE CAN control how we respond!! Selfishness and Unforgiveness will lead us to respond in Bitterness Heb.12:12-15   Ruth 1:21Naomi went out full and came back empty! Ephesians 1:3     Ruth 1:22  Ruth 2:1-3   Proverbs 12:11  1 Tim. 5:8      Nehemiah 4:6   We must determine to foster a WORK ETHIC at home and in ministry! John 9:4

Redemption to Redemption Ruth 1:6-13 Ruth1:1-2 Bethlehem = house of Bread, Judah = praise Moab = Wash Pot,  Ephrethah = fruitful  Elimelech = my God is King, Naomi=pleasant, Mahlon = unhealthy,  Chilion = puny     Ruth 1:3-5 Elimelech dies and is buried in a foreign land!  Naomi’s role is now the leader.  Puny and Sickly knew that the marriages would not honor God; but it fed the family!   Ruth 1:5  Naomi has nothing left. No HOPE! 3 graves, no home, no way to survive! When we reach the end of ourselves; God has room to work!   Ruth 1: 6-7   God was at WORK in the land of Praise and Naomi heard about it! Psalm 63:1-3   God used her memories to create a desire for His work in her life!      He often CALLS to us in a foreign land! Instead of praying;  God bless me; pray God make me blessable! Naomi’s decision was right; her motive was wrong!   Ruth 1:.8-13 WORLDLY WISDOM vs. GODLY WISDOM LUKE 14:22-23  Do we use Godly or Earthly Wisdom?  Could it be that Naomi was trying to hide their sins from family or friends? The BIBLE IS NOT A FAIRY TALE!!  Prov. 28:13                       Psalm 51:16-17                              Ruth 1:13  She blames God for her Emptiness!  The Pleasant Woman was bitter!    Isaiah 55:8-9

Running on Empty CONTEXT!!  The book of Ruth is a narrative!  Purposeful stories retelling the events of the past; meant to give guidance and direction to people living in the present.        Why Study the Book of Ruth??   Story of Redemption Redeem “gaal”= purchase one from slavery; to pay a price and bring under protection.   Ruth 1:1    3 ways to encounter Trials.  Endure it. Escape it. Enlist it… Ruth 1:1-2 Bethlehem = house of Bread,  Judah = praise Moab = Wash Pot,  Ephrethah = fruitful  Elimelech = my God is King, Naomi = pleasant, Mahlon= unhealthy,  Chilion= puny     How often has that been our story? Have you ever proclaimed that God was your King and then your life did not reflect? James 4:7-8      Ruth 1:3-5                                                                                               Numbers 32:23   Naomi’s is now the center of attention.    Ruth 1:4 A pleasant woman with 2 puny and sickly sons in a foreign and hostile land. Why would Puny and Sickly get married?                            How do we evaluate the marriages?  Hebrews 4:12 Often we skirt the intent of God’s word to satisfy our desires!    Has our faith become Pragmatic?  Ruth 1:5   Naomi has nothing left; she is at the end of herself! When we reach the end of ourselves; God has room to work!

The Road to Redemption Introduction The Road to Redemption A verse by verse sermon series from the book of Ruth Acts 17:10-11, John 16:13    CONTEXT! We must study in the context of What, Who, Where, When and Why’s…    Who is the author of Ruth?  (unknown)   When was the book of Ruth Written?  During the time of the judges... The timing of Ruth is beautiful!!  God will use ALL things to bring about His glory!   Why Study the Book of Ruth??   Story of Redemption Redeem “gaal”= purchase one from slavery; to pay a price and bring under protection.     The book of Ruth is a narrative!  Purposeful stories retelling the events of the past; meant to give guidance and direction to people living in the present. Romans 15:4 Only a Kinsman-Redeemer can redeem!!   Hebrews 4:14-16     5 Main Themes found in Ruth! 1. God will not let his promises to Israel, Judah and David die. 2. God works in a mysterious way to perform wonders and to achieve his goals. 3. In all things God works for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose (Rom 8:28). 4. Genuine piety or Godliness is expressed primarily in devotion, sensitivity, grace, and kindness toward others and openness to the working of God. 5. God’s grace knows no boundaries.   Who is the main character?  Naomi  Ch1:1-5 Naomi is emptied   Ch. 4:13-17 filled! Ruth, Boaz   ONE OTHER MAIN CHARACTER! Who is it? Ruth 1:1, 2 Peter 3:9   3 ways to encounter Trials.  Endure it. Escape it. Enlist it… Bethlehem= house of Bread        Judah=praise        Moab  Psalm 60:8 = Wash Pot We often allow discontent to drive us from paradise to the pig pen!
