The Road to Redemption
A verse by verse sermon series from the book of Ruth
Acts 17:10-11, John 16:13   

CONTEXT!
We must study in the context of What, Who, Where, When and Why’s… 
 
Who is the author of Ruth?  (unknown)
 
When was the book of Ruth Written?  During the time of the judges...
The timing of Ruth is beautiful!! 
God will use ALL things to bring about His glory!
 
Why Study the Book of Ruth??   Story of Redemption
Redeem “gaal”= purchase one from slavery; to pay a price and bring under protection.  
 
The book of Ruth is a narrative!  Purposeful stories retelling the events of the past; meant to give guidance and direction to people living in the present.
Romans 15:4

Only a Kinsman-Redeemer can redeem!!   Hebrews 4:14-16 
 
 5 Main Themes found in Ruth!
1. God will not let his promises to Israel, Judah and David die.
2. God works in a mysterious way to perform wonders and to achieve his goals.
3. In all things God works for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose (Rom 8:28).
4. Genuine piety or Godliness is expressed primarily in devotion, sensitivity, grace, and kindness toward others and openness to the working of God.
5. God’s grace knows no boundaries.
 
Who is the main character? 
Naomi  Ch1:1-5 Naomi is emptied   Ch. 4:13-17 filled!
Ruth, Boaz   ONE OTHER MAIN CHARACTER! Who is it?

Judah=praise

We often allow discontent to drive us from paradise to the pig pen!
