Bo Noonan teaches through the story of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15:11-32 during our series "Come Home". In this teaching he lays out two main worldviews that encompass most cultures: moral conformity and self-discovery. Both of these worldviews are seen clearly in this story, and both - according to Jesus - fall short of what God has called us to. We see in this story that the good news of Jesus is fully for the person who is trying to create their own self-focused world AND for those who feel that their obedience has earned them something from God. The good news of Jesus shows us that both of these worldviews are deeply wrong, yet all of us who hold these worldviews are deeply loved. Our great need is that we admit our need and submit to the love of Jesus.
