Bo Noonan teaches part one of our spiritual formation series "Being Formed." Our working definition for spiritual formation is: the process of being formed into the image of Christ for the sake of others. To begin our journey we need to know where to start, and that starting point is the Word of God.

Being formed by Immanuel, God with us

This truth is the foundation of our spiritual formation, yet even during the Christmas and Advent season, we can drift from being formed by Jesus and instead be formed by many other things around us.

Being formed by suffering

Bo Noonan teaches about being formed by suffering. If we are to be formed into the image of Jesus for the sake of others, we need to learn how to suffer with the same kind of faith, relationship, and perspective that Jesus suffered with. Since sin entered the world, God's big story is full of stories of God's people enduring suffering and yet holding on to the truth that our suffering is not in vain. Rather, it is a way that God conforms us into the image of his Son.

Being formed by prayer

Bo Noonan teaches about being formed by prayer in our "Being Formed" series on spiritual formation. As we look to be formed into the image of Jesus for the sake of others we see that prayer - being with his Father - is a huge part of Jesus' earthly life. His disciples even asked him to teach them to pray like he did. What he taught them about prayer is life-changing!
