Americans are moving away from religious affiliation. While 81% of Americans say they "believe in God," only 65% affiliate with Christianity. Even still, only 25% of Americans are practicing Christians. As much as we want to blame the culture for the state of the Church, the problem is not with the culture. The reason the next generation is leaving the Church is because they see Christians as hypocrites. We have been making affiliates. We are not making disciples. We can try to change the culture by enacting policies and electing politicians who will protect our interests. But we will not reverse the trends without changing ourselves.
