Many of us can be quite guarded, even with close friends. This hidden heart can be a serious limitation to Christian growth. Vulnerability in Christian community is the answer. Opening wide our hearts to one another is one expression of truthfulness and makes meaningful accountability possible. But only if we’re willing to be seen.

Jesus did not shy away from saying some radical truths in the presence of others. His teachings were often met with awe or indignation. In Mark 3, Jesus shared a radical, paradigm shifting idea with the crowd that had gathered. What He said back then gives us a glimpse into what He had envisioned for us today—a following that was deeply connected with one another.
