What does it mean that Jesus resurrected?

Easter

Early in the morning, three days after Jesus died, His mother and Mary Magdalene went to visit the tomb where Jesus’ body had been laid. But when they arrived, the big stone that covered the opening to the tomb had been rolled away. The tomb was empty!

The women wondered, “Where has the body of our beloved Jesus gone?”

Moments later, they made a wonderful, important, and extraordinary discovery: Jesus was alive! The tomb was empty because Jesus was no longer dead, but had come back to life, just as He said He would! It was a true miracle!

As fast as they could, Mary Magdalene and Mary ran to tell the disciples the good news that Jesus had resurrected.

The word resurrect means “to bring back to life or raise from the dead.” For the most complete account of what happened when Jesus was resurrected, it’s best to read all four Gospel reports in the Bible (Matthew 28:1–10; Mark 16:1–8; Luke 24:1–12; John 20:1–18).
