Matthew 9:27-38 The two blind men recognized Jesus. Jesus asked the blind men an important question. The blind men received what they believed. The newly - healed men disobeyed Jesus’ warning and told everyone how they received their sight. The devil does not want us to talk about Jesus. Jesus enables us to talk about Him. The Pharisees were jealous and attributed the mute man’s deliverance to the devil. Jesus wants the church to have compassion on hurting people the same way He did. If you receive what you believe, what would you have? How will you answer Jesus’ help - wanted ad? Isaiah 6:8

Matthew 9:14-17 There is a time to mourn and a time to rejoice. Ecclesiastes 3:4 This is the first time Jesus refers to Himself as the bridegroom. Jesus’s presence should be celebrated. Jesus uses an old garment and an old wineskin to represent people living under the old covenant. Jesus is introducing the new covenant with the new patch and new wine. John 2:6-11 Jesus wants to preserve the garments and the wineskins. You must be born again in order to be able to contain the new wine. John 3:3, 2 Corinthians 5:17 Judas Iscariot is an example of an old wineskin that was unable to hold the new wine. John 13:2, 21-30, Acts 1:15-19 Are you a new wineskin full of the cup of the new and everlasting covenant? Romans 5:1-2

Calling Sinners

Matthew 9:9-13 Matthew followed Jesus in word and deed. Matthew held a banquet and invited his friends to meet Jesus. The Pharisees would never eat with Matthew and his friends. Jesus came to heal people that were dying spiritually and physically. Jesus was showing mercy to the people that the Pharisees neglected. Matthew 23:23-24 Jesus’s call to sinners opened the door for everyone. Psalms 14:1-3, Ecclesiastes 7:20, 1 John 1:8, 1 Timothy 2:1-4 How will you answer Jesus’s call to follow?

Faithful Ambassadors

Matthew 9:1-8 In forgiving this man’s sins, Jesus declared that His greatest work is not physical healing, but spiritual healing. In forgiving this man’s sins, He declared that He was God. Psalms 139:1-6 Without the faith of these four men, the paralytic may not have encountered Jesus. As God’s ambassadors, our faith should be causing us to carry others to Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:16-20 As God’s ambassadors, we must be ok with being “inconvenienced” for the sake of the gospel. Never underestimate the amount of impact bringing someone to Jesus has. Who is God calling you to carry to Jesus?
