Replicate: Commissioning Matthew 28:16-20, Acts 1:1-9 Don’t go without the Holy Spirit. Jesus does not say stay in church and entertain. Jesus tells His disciples to go fish and hunt for lost souls. Make disciples of all nations. Matthew 4:17, 10:32-33, Romans 10:9-10 Immerse new believers in the things of  God. Philippians 4:8 Teach new believers what to obey and how to do it.  Watch me do it; do it with me; do it on your own; teach someone else to do it.Philippians 4:9 Is there a reason to fulfill the great commission?  1 Samuel 17:29 NKJV

Luke 10:17-20 Point #2- Watch me do it, do it with me, do it on your own, and teach someone else to do it.  John 6:1-13 Point #3- “An apprentice of Jesus should have an apprentice.” – PMM Acts 9:27, Acts 11:25-26, 1 Corinthians 4:17, 2 Timothy 1:2 Point #4- The three components of a Christian mentoring relationship are God, the mentor, and the mentee.  Proverbs 27:17, Proverbs 13:20, Ecclesiastes 4:7-12 Who are the mentors in your life? Who are you mentoring?

Pride is at the root of all sin. 1 John 2:15-17; Proverbs 8:13, 11:2, 16:5, 18, James 4:6 Humility is not humiliation.  Psalm 8:5-6; Matthew 5:3, 5 “Humility is not thinking less of yourself but thinking of yourself less.”- C.S. Lewis Romans 12:3   Matthew 23:1-12 Pride judges based on outcomes and expectations yet justifies its own behavior based on intentions.   Pride focuses on  superficial appearances.  Pride desires status, titles, and worldly power. Mark 10:35-45 Mercy, integrity, and servanthood are the way of Jesus. Philippians 2:1-11 Humility leads to unity. Jesus’ mindset concerning power was upside-down compared to that of the world.  John 13:3-5,12-17 What will you do to crucify pride and clothe yourself in the humility of Christ? 1 Peter 5:5b-6

The Way of Christ: Confession 2 Chronicles  7:13-14 A humble assessment of our behavior should lead to confessing our sins to God. God has promised to forgive and to cleanse those who confess their sins. 1 John 1:9 Confession is both vertical and horizontal.  James 5:16, 1 Samuel 12:3 Two of the reasons for confessing sins to each other are accountability and encouragement. Confession leads to forgiveness and forgiveness opens the door to blessings. Psalms 32:1-7, Acts 3:19-20 Confession is both individual and corporate. Is unconfessed sin holding you captive?  

IMITATE the Way of Christ: Fasting

Fasting is the practice of setting aside food and other distractions for spiritual purposes. Fasting prepares us to hear God’s voice more clearly. Matthew 9:14-18 We see God honor faith filled fasting and prayer for different purposes all throughout scripture. Paul and early church leaders fasted and prayed and received direction from God. Acts 13:2-3 The Ninavites fasted and prayed in repentance. Jonah 3:5-10 Anna worshiped, fasted, and prayed as she interceded for her people. Luke 2:36-38 King Jehosaphat and the people of Judah fasted and prayed to be delivered from their enemies. 2 Chronicles 20:1-4 2 Chronicles 20:12-17 Jesus modeled fasting and prayer to put to death the flesh and live by the Spirit. Galatians 5:16-25 John 14:30 Throughout scripture we see God honor the all in faith of those who seek Him with all their heart. Hebrews 11:6 Is God calling you to fast?
