In these verses, Jesus sees the cross as the fulfillment of all that God sent Him to do. Even with the authority granted Him, Jesus submitted to the Father's will.
Jesus came as the image of the invisible God. His life was to teach us what God is like, so that we could know Him.
Jesus prays for our salvation to be secure and assured.
As He was sent into the world, so have we, His Church. There is no greater joy than following His footsteps into the mission He has put before us.
