Many years ago my brother committed suicide and his pastor would not do the funeral because he said it was an unforgivable sin. We didnt know what to do, and a close friend of mine said, "Let me call Pastor Carter." He called Pastor and he agreed to do the service for my family.
When he started the sermon he said, "None of us are qualified to judge him for suicide because we are not God." Immediately a huge load fell off of my shoulders. When he preached the message, he didn't focus on the sin omy deceased brother, he focused on the love of God that is available to each of us to help us get through this process.
It was supposed to be a church where we were just holding the service, but myself and a few other family members decided at the repast that we would join this ministry. We joined and have grown in great ways. A church that could give compassion in such a hard time was the church I wanted to belong to. There is so much more I can say, but I will share it if I get to meet you personally.
