December 15, 2024 • Matt Embry • John 1:19–34, John 3:25–36
This week's sermon explored the preeminence of Jesus Christ as depicted in John Chapter 1. The Old Testament ends with a promise of a coming Savior, fulfilled through John the Baptist's preparation for Jesus. John the Baptist's humility and mission emphasized Jesus' role as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. The Old Testament sacrificial system foreshadowed Jesus' ultimate sacrifice, offering eternal life to believers. Practical applications include acknowledging Jesus' supremacy, pointing others to Him, and living with humility.

Despite her humble background, Mary exemplified extraordinary faith and obedience, fulfilling numerous Old Testament prophecies. Her encounter with the angel Gabriel and her subsequent surrender to God's plan highlight the importance of faith, community, and worship. Mary's story challenges us to trust God even when we don't understand His plans, reminding us that nothing is impossible with God.
