There was a particular book that had a lot of influence at that time, “The Shaping of Things To Come”, by Michael Frost & Alan Hirsch. In that book, they laid out both, theology and practice for the Church, which they saw as desperately needing to reclaim its missional calling and discard the consumeristic model that had turned it into a dispenser of religious goods and services.
