The story of Mary's devotion and Martha's distractions can help us avoid the pitfalls of having the wrong priorities that will make this the worst year ever. We can't do it all. Jesus doesn't expect us to either. He wants our devotion more than anything. If we try to do it all, we are living like it all depends on us. Mary shows us what it looks like to be devoted to Jesus and trust that it all depends on him.
Let Fear Win
January 28, 2024 • Jerry Dusenberry • 1 Samuel 15
Fear is never our friend. Fear leads us to compromise our values, give up our convictions, and seek to please people over God.
In 1 Samuel 15, Saul's disobedience was the result of an inner desire to seek the approval of others rather than be obedient to God's instructions.
Fear is always louder than reality.
Bad Company

When we surround ourselves with the wrong people it leads us to make the wrong choices. We need to bravely and honestly critique our inner circle. What voices do we allow into our lives?
Wrong people in your inner circle -what do you find yourself doing?
- Are they bringing out the worst in you?
- Are they causing you to compromise your standards/morals?
- Are they turning you away from God’s plan?
- Are they turning you against others?
