The Basics of Generosity

This week we will look at The Basics of Generosity from the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30. A talent is a weight of money. And the parable directs us to the importance of using money (and all our talents) to expand Jesus's kingdom for his glory.

Money is the chief rival god to God. Jesus said so. There are more verses in the Bible about money than any other subject - including love, faith or hope! Over half Jesus's parables address the subject. Bottom line: Jesus loves a generous heart. This week, we will conclude our series on the Joy of Generosity. Our text will be Luke 16:1-13. It's one of the more debatable texts in the Bible. What does it mean? Is Jesus really commending a crook?

Generosity that flows from a heart that has received the enormous grace of Jesus and can't help but give in response to his generosity to us.
