For the Fame of His Name

In this final passage in the book of Matthew, we find the risen Christ giving instructions to His disciples that they will now embark on the bold mission of making disciples of all nations. We find in our Lord's command not only the means by which we can be obedient to Him in this, but the sure promise of Christ Himself: He is with us until the end of the age. Therefore, we can go boldly forth, trusting that He will honor this work, for the fame of His name.

The Mysteries of the Kingdom of God

In a key transition point in the gospel of Matthew we see a consequence of the rejection of Jesus as the Messiah-King. From this point forward He began to speak in parables and in doing so He hid the hope of the Kingdom of God from most of the listeners. He called these parables the “mysteries of the kingdom.” This sermon examines what they say and what they reveal about the Kingdom of God.

The Mission Mandate: Teach

Jesus' instruction to the church is clear - make disciples! The ongoing aspect of this mandate is to make disciples by teaching them. Many view the teaching aspect of discipleship as merely reading through a book with someone in a coffee shop. However, it is far more broad, and involves opening up your entire life to a person. This sermon explores the concept of teaching, and calls the church to consider how they can best obey this principle in its multi-faceted aspects.
