ROMANS 5:6-11 - did we deserve to be rescued? What usually happens to the Rebellion? - it gets CRUSHED! - God’s Response is to PURSUE, LOVE EPHESIANS 5:11-21 Surrender is not WEAKNESS Surrender is not about GIVING UP but WAKING UP Surrender is not about quitting but STARTING Fresh Surrender is not about defeat but VICTORY Mark 8:35

Rebellion - a dissatisfaction with Authority A hardened heart brings a cycle of Darkness leading you to get angrier and more defiant - that makes you all the more emboldened to feel justified in your Rebellion. ROMANS 5:6-11 weak, ungodly, sinners - did we deserve to be rescued? What usually happens to the Rebellion? - it gets CRUSHED! GOD’S RESPONSE PURSUIT - we could not mend the rift caused by our Rebellion - He moved towards us in Christ - Any attempt of our to surrender is bathed in the reality of God’s love for us while we were still sinners - It is God’s love that overcomes our rebellion DIFFERENT - our love is temporary, changing, ______________ - God’s love is sacrificial, difficult*, perfect DEMONSTRATED - not just empty words - the Cross “Believing in and being overwhelmed by this amazing reality of divine love generates and sustains the love to God and neighbor that Christ’s two great commandments require.” JI Packer Knowing that God’s loved us when we were enemies will strengthen our confidence that he will care for us and continue to love us now that we are his children.
