PSALM 1: a song to get psyched up

1 FRIENDSHIPS
* the people we spend time with have a profound
IMPACT on us…sometimes this influence is obvious - sometime it is more DECPTIVE (and dangerous)

* some relationships are healthy - some are harmful

* making use of clever and indirect methods to achieve something.

2 FOUNDATION
* Psalm 1 paints a picture of someone who
ENJOYS the things of God and who is
ENGAGED and actively involved in their life

* ultimately their lives Prosper (they fulfill their purpose and prove themselves to be USEFUL)

3 FOOTSTEPS:
* the path we walk down has eternal implications

* do you have some ideas about what the dangerous things are? why mess around with them?

PSALM 103: a song of RESPONSE (worship) 1 What is WORSHIP? John 4:23 * worship is spiritual and real (based in reality) * when genuine, emotion is involved but the TRUTH keeps our emotions in check GOD’S GREATNESS SHOULD CAUSE THE RESPONSE OF AUTHENTIC WORSHIP 2 The Goodness of God is GREAT * the Enemy wants us to focus on what is BAD * to remember is an INTENTIONAL act * Look at the PSALM: what does this song tell you about who God is: 3 Our Need is Great WE ARE SINFUL (spiritually) * we must acknowledge our true condition * sinners saved by grace; in need of GRACE WE ARE FRAIL (physically) * know our place / prone to sickness * if we were ABLE on our own, we wouldn’t need the LORD
