Demonstrating Compassion in Mental Illness: Community Dinner & Conversation

Heritage Hall

November 13, 2024
6:15 - 7:45pm

How can Messiah be a faith community that embraces those who struggle in life? Join us on Wednesday, November 13 for a FREE Community Dinner & Conversation on Demonstrating Compassion in Mental Illness. We'll start with dinner together in Heritage Hall at 6:15 pm. At 6:45 pm the kids and youth will head to their regular programming in the lower level; and from 6:45-7:45 pm we'll hear from Margaret Kelly, MDiv, MSW, former Director of the Dignity Center at Hennepin United Methodist Church. Margaret will help us understand how God calls us to treat those with mental health issues with respect and dignity. (The Dignity Center, an outreach ministry of Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church, is a program that brings support, opportunity and resources for people in transition as they regain stability and move toward self-sufficiency.)

This event is FREE and open to the community. Please RSVP for dinner (at the link above) by Thursday, November 7. (RSVPs are not required, but are helpful for us to plan.)

This special event was made possible by a grant from the Minnesota Annual Conference to further our efforts to be an inclusive and welcoming faith community and was planned by the Messiah Inclusion Team.
