Prodigal God: Give Me My Share

November 28, 2021 • Keith Daugherty • Luke 15

Over the last few weeks we have been unpacking the richness of Luke 15. • The chapter begins with a meal between Jesus, tax collectors and notorious sinners. • The religious leaders dislike Jesus table manners and begin to murmur, • In response to their murmuring, Jesus tells three stories… That really rocks their world. • Then he tells the story of a lost sheep…. • Secondly he tells the story of a lost coin…. • Then he tells a third story of a man that had two sons. Through each of these stories Jesus challenges the relirious categories of Sin, Salvation and the world around them. This week we are diving into the third of Jesus’ three parables, which is the longest and most famous. It is a story about a family—a father, an older son, and a younger son. Typically known as the Parable of the Prodigal Son.
