How Can I Help?

Funding Kingdom Work Together

February 4, 2024 • T.D. Davis

Although money can become a taboo topic concerning spirituality, Jesus unapologetically connects monetary wealth as a direct connection point to our posture of worship. As we brace ourselves to see the greatest wealth transfer in American history over the next 10 years, it begs a practical question for followers of Jesus: How will we practically steward our wealth? In this message, T.D Davis (co-lead pastor) encourages us to build the habit of generosity around the work of the local church in the world, which in turn helps us become more generously focused people.

In Ministry Together

The word “minister” can often culturally imply a specific spiritual office reserved for a chosen few. Interestingly enough, the word in its Biblical use simply translates as a “servant” which rather than constricting actually expands the role and responsibility of the collective church to fulfill what it means to be “the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way” (Eph. 1:23). In this message, T.D. Davis (co-lead pastor) unpacks the theological and practical process of what it means to explore, develop, and model the unique ministry that God has embedded in each of us as an expression of worshipping Jesus as a local church with our talent.

On Mission Together

In the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus describes a man who takes the time to attend to a man robbed, beaten, and left on the side of the road. This posture of prioritizing people with our practical time becomes a huge part of Jesus’ mission for the world. Even during Jesus’ time on earth, scholars estimate that over 80% of Jesus’ time was spent with a close-knit relational circle of 12 ordinary men. But what could this practically look like today? In this message, T.D. Davis (co-lead pastor) helps us unpack a vision for disciplemaking through the worship of our time within 4 everyday domains: Open Home, Open Table, Open Book, and Open Road.

Go And Do Likewise

The question “How Can I Help?” is a very powerful sentiment that affirms Jesus’ unrelenting leadership style of service and sacrifice towards humanity. When a church community begins to see the “budding” of this question, it aligns with a togetherness of worship that sets the stage for newfound ministry opportunity, vision, and a hope-filled future. In this message, T.D. Davis (co-lead pastor) teaches through a popular parable of Jesus which illustrates the Series Big Idea: "The way we will offer ourselves fully as growing members of Media City Church is through worship with our time, talent, and treasure.”
