Keep Faith in the Future!

August 2, 2020 • Pastor Billy Calderwood

No matter what we face we must keep faith in the future! This is the theme of the final words of the Lord’s prayer.  When we say "yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever" we acknowledge that evil and injustice will not win in the end, but that God's reign of justice and peace will indeed rule over all! This powerful doxology means God has all Authority (Yours is the Kingdom), God has all Ability (Yours is the Power) and God gets all the Publicity (Yours is the Glory)! This powerful message will ground you in the powerful reality captured in Psalm 138 that: The Lord will work out his plans for my life for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever!"

Tested & Tempted!

"Lead us not into temptation" or "don't put us to the test." In the Kingdom Prayer Jesus teaches us to ask that God would keep us from trials, testing and temptation. This powerful request causes us to acknowledge our weakness and helps save us from the pride of thinking we can move forward in life without God's Grace daily. Also, this prayer places our confidence in God's ability to get us to the finish line! When we do face testing and trials, this prayer helps us encounter the "God of the mountain pass" who can make a way forward for us when we see no way!

The Power of Forgiveness!

Once every two minutes. That's how often Jesus says we should be ready to forgive. That's a lot of forgiving! One of the powerful petitions in the Lord's prayer is "forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors." It is so powerful and important that Jesus follows up on with an immediate teaching on the power of forgiveness! In this message, discover three life-changing truths about forgiveness. First, forgiveness is an accounting term! An accurate assessment of the wrong enables us to move forward regardless of how we feel. Also, forgiveness frees the forgiver from the power of bitterness and from being chained to the past. Last, forgiveness activates God’s Kingdom resources to flow in your life!
