The Declaration of Independence affirms that certain truths are self-evident, namely "that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these rights are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, are a pretty good summary of Romans. Romans takes the vision of our Declaration of Independence a step further. Paul states, it’s not the pursuit of happiness that’s identifies the follower of Jesus, but the pursuit of love.
