Social Principles of The United Methodist Church

Adult Study and Discussion - 4 Weeks

September 28, 10:45am - November 16, 2025 11:45am

“The Principles are a good faith response to what we believe God is already doing in our lives and in the public square. They are an expression of the common ground we share, reflecting our priorities and helping us learn about and advocate for vulnerable peoples and a vulnerable planet. The Social Principles express The United Methodist Church’s official positions on societal issues, casting a vision for a just and equitable world.” (from the Introduction to the Social Principles 2025-2028)

The social principles are an evolving, global document providing guidance for Christian ethical concerns related to the creation, the economy, and social and political communities.  They are not doctrine or church law, but are meant to be guideposts for our prayer, reflection and action.
