Palm Sunday commemorates the time when Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on a donkey as the people waved palm branches and said "blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord".

Riding the donkey meant Jesus was coming in peace and the waving of palm branches was a sign of honor and victory for the one coming.
