Our tongue although small can affect the direction of not only our life but the lives of the people around us A contained fire brings life but a wildfire leads to unrighteousness We fail when we rely on ourselves to do what only God can do We aren't here to judge a broken world, we're here to spread Jesus so God can change our broken world Talk to God Worship God Be in community with those around us
Week Three
August 7, 2022 • Mark Hirst • James 2:1–13
Favoritism according to James: 1) In how we treat people 2) In how we speak to people 3) In how we think about people The heart issue of favoritism leads to the manifest action of discrimination Stop Showing favoritism: 1) It is inconsistent with the heart of God 2) It is not how we want to be treated 3) It is a sin 4) It affects how merciful God will be toward us What do I do with this? 1) Repent – Ask God to forgive 2) Reveal – Ask God to reveal your blindspot 3) Reverse – Go back and take action to make it right
