1. What are you looking forward to in this New Year?

2. Read Mark 4:35-41 and Jeremiah 29:11 NLT and discuss; Why is it important that Jesus is with you when crossing over? What does this look like for your new year?

3. Read Mark 4:37 and John 16:33 NLT and discuss; What does it mean to “take Heart”? If we know that we will face trials and difficulties in the new year, how do we have hope and confidence? How does paying attention to Jesus’ posture change our reaction to our circumstances?

Read 1 Samuel 30:1-6 NLT and discuss; Have you ever found that nothing and no one around you can comfort or encourage you? How can we find our strength in the Lord like David? Share about a time where this was true for you. 3. Read 1 Samuel 30:7-8 NLT and discuss; David asks the priest for the Ephod. The Ephod was an apron worn by the high priest as a symbol of worship to God and the atonement for sins. It signified that the High Priest had access to God to petition for the people of God on their behalf. David skipped the High Priest in desperation and went straight to the source. In what ways do we need to go straight to God with our situations and circumstances? What do you need to take straight to the source in this season of your life? 4.
