What is the upward call of Christ Jesus? How do we as Christians live our lives in such a way as to achieve it? are we passive Christians, running a race in expectation of a participation trophy, or are we running with intentionality, as if we actually want to win?

Paul's letter to the church in Philippi is mainly a letter of encouragement due to their concern over him being thrown in prison. Paul's encouragements show us how to have the Joy of the Lord in any circumstance, by being of the same mindset as Christ, seeing the big picture, and recognizing that our suffering has a purpose and God is not finished with us.
