ONE Baptism

September 29, 2019 • Jovan Barrington

Baptism means, to be immersed.

We are to maintain the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Our unity is based on the theological oneness of God. Paul says in Ephesians 4:5 that there is one Lord, one faith, and one baptism. The one Lord is Jesus and the content of the one faith is the gospel Jesus (the one Lord and Savior). The one baptism is into the one Lord, Jesus(“in Christ”). We are immersed into Jesus and the Holy Spirit immerses us into the one body, the church (1 Cor 12:13). Baptism represents our union with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus (the gospel) and being united with all who put their trust in Christ.
