The Third Annual Thunder Thorp Pickleball Tournament at Lighthouse Christian Camp located at 9574 Somerset Drive, Barker, NY along the beautiful Lake Ontario shoreline!
Get ready for an unforgettable weekend of competition, connection, and community as we rally together to honor the legacy of Don Thorp, beloved servant of Lighthouse Christian Camp and Pickleball enthusiast. The tournament will be run by Don's daughter and Pickleball Professional Coach, Mindy Yoder. This year's goal is to raise funds to light up our pickleball courts! Check out the details below:
WHAT'S HAPPENING & WHEN:
>> June 27: PIZZA & PICKLE
Friday night kicks things off starting at 6:00 PM with live pickle ball demos & tips from professional pickleballer Mindy Yoder (Don Thorp’s daughter) and open court time. Pizza and soda will be available for sale.
>>. June 28: TOURNAMENT DAY
o AM WAVE: (Doubles): 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM The morning session of the tournament is open to doubles teams to include men’s, women’s, or co-ed pairings. All teams will compete in brackets based on skill level, not gender.
Advanced (4.0+) – For experienced players with strong strategy, consistency, and shot placement.
Intermediate (3.0) – For players with solid fundamentals, growing game awareness, and moderate consistency.
Novice (2.5) – For newer players who are learning the rules, positioning, and basic techniques.
Players can register as a team or as a single. Singles will be paired with another player of a similar skill level before the tournament. Please select your appropriate skill level when registering. To ensure fairness and fun, tournament organizers may adjust bracket placement.

o PM WAVE: 1:00 – 5:00 PM ALL LEVEL SCRAMBLE Each person will play 6-8 games. Sign up as an individual. You will play with a different player every game. Players will be assigned to groups by skill level.
COST:
- $40 per player registering for either the AM wave or PM wave
- $60 per player registering for both sessions
- Players must be 18 years of age and older
- Please note: the tournament will be held rain or shine, and no refunds will be issued
- DEADLINE: To be sure to get a T-Shirt must sign up by JUNE 13
WHAT"S INCLUDED:
Medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers, T-shirt (one per person), swag-bag and lunch.
