The Report and To Do List

During certain seasons of prayer and fasting we seek God more intensely and passionately. We ask Him to examine our heart and ask for wisdom. When He speaks to us and shows us what He wants us to do, do we value it? Is it important to us? Do we follow-up? We need to give attention to His report and the action item list from our prayer time so that we can change and grow.
The Exam

As we make the time to pray and fast we are going through a spiritual examination. We are asking the Lord to search our hearts and show us anything that we need to adjust or change. This exam involves submitting our spirit, soul and body to the Lord allowing Him to judge our motives and our mind. He uses His word and His Spirit to search us and remove those things that have been holding us back.
Prepare For The Exam

We need the Lord to examine our heart. We need Him to show us areas that we need to deal with and line up with His will and His word. But in order to have a successful examination there are things that we need to do to prepare for the exam. Just like having an exam at the doctor's office we need to make an appointment, complete any special requirements and then present ourselves. Once we get to the appointment we submit ourselves to the doctor and we obey the instructions given to us. Exams are a process. If we truly want the Lord to search us and examine us thoroughly there are ways that we need to prepare.
