Looking and Listening Inward

As we learn how to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit we develop the ability to look and listen inwardly. The answers that we need do not come from the outside circumstances, they come from the Holy Spirit that lives on the inside of us. We can call Him our Guide on the Inside. He is our Helper when it is time to make a decision. We can count on Him to give us the steps and instructions.
Minding Spiritual Things

One of the keys to being led by the Spirit of God continually is being able to set your mind on spiritual things. Our minds are critical to our spiritual development and spiritual discernment. When we have control over our minds and set them on spiritual things we are able to sense the leading of the Holy Spirit. By setting our minds on spiritual things we focus on things inside of us, where the Holy Spirit lives.
Never Assume

As we are being led by the Spirit of God, we will be tempted to reason out the decisions that we need to make. In the process of reasoning, there are certain assumptions that we can tend to make that will lead us down the wrong path. Even though they may seem good to us, the choices that we make could be based on our own human reasoning.
Right Place at The Right Time

When we choose to let the Holy Spirit lead us, we will be at the right place at the right time, doing the right thing with the right people for the right reason. The Holy Spirit is always right, and we should expect to be led by Him because we are children of God. Learning to walk with Him is a process where we constantly grow more and more dependent on Him. Faith is required to discern His guidance.
Learning To Listen

To be led by the Holy Spirit we must be able to discern His voice. Learning to discern His voice requires time and discipline. It is an intentional process that develops over time. The more quickly that we are able to discern the voice of the Holy Spirit the more decisive we can become in our obedience to God. Let's expect to be led by the Holy Spirit in all things at all times.
Who Or What Are You Following?

One of the most important things that we can learn as a Christian is how to be led by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was given to us to lead us and guide us everyday and in every way. He is on stand by, waiting to lead us in the path that He wants us to walk in. Our challenge is that there are many things and many influences that are also trying to lead us. So, we must constantly ask ourselves, "who or what are we being led by?"
