Jesus Is Lord

The Truth that Defines Our Reality

The Church and Politics

November 13, 2022 • Lorenzo Elizondo • John 18:36–38

Our hope is not in government, but it Christ and him alone. However, we have a duty to be informed and involved in the political decisions in our country. We do so out of love for our neighbor. Therefore, our response and view on politics ought to be different from those who do not know the Lord.

My Body My Choice

November 6, 2022 • Lorenzo Elizondo • Psalm 139:13–16

Abortion is not merely a political or cultural issue, it is a theological issue. What we think about abortion ultimately says what we think about God. In this sermon, we take a look at what the Bible says about abortion, and what our response as Christians ought to be.

Distinct Culture

October 30, 2022 • Lorenzo Elizondo • 2 Corinthians 5:17–20

Every person that claims Jesus is Lord should stand out among the culture. However, this distinction is not based on finances, status, or degrees, but in character and conduct. The way we live matters to God, and he has given us instructions on how to live in the Scriptures.

Homosexuality and the Bible Part 2

October 23, 2022 • Lorenzo Elizondo • Genesis 19:4–13, Romans 1:24–27, 1 Corinthians 6:9–11, 1 Timothy 1:8–11, Leviticus 18

The need for all mankind is not about our sexuality, but our need of the gospel. When looking at sexuality we must ask ourselves, “What has God said on the matter?” The Bible is our ultimate authority and the gospel is our ultimate hope. Through it, we see God’s moral laws perfectly fulfilled in Jesus. In him we are freed from the bondage of sin and empowered to follow and obey God. As believers, we are to bring truth and love to all people, including those in the LGBTQ community. We do not separate truth and love, but bring them both to a world that is in desperate need of a Savior.

The Truth About Sex

October 2, 2022 • Lorenzo Elizondo • 1 Corinthians 7:2–5, Genesis 2:18–24, Exodus 20

God created humans as sexual beings. He is not frightened by sex, taken off guard by it, or disapproving it. As a matter of fact, sex is designed by him. Therefore, he sets the boundaries. Contrary to what culture believes, his boundaries are for our good and for our flourishing.

The Death of Right and Wrong

September 25, 2022 • Lorenzo Elizondo • Matthew 7:1, 1 Corinthians 10:31, Proverbs 1:7

In this sermon, Pastor Lorenzo walks us through a biblical understanding of ethics, and how culture has deteriorated what is right and wrong. As created beings by God, we are not free to decide what is right and what is wrong, that belongs to the Lord. His goodness is the standard, not ours.

What is Truth?

September 18, 2022 • Lorenzo Elizondo • John 18:36–38

In this sermon pastor Lorenzo asks the question, "What is truth?" Some deny truth's existence, and others have claimed to find it through nature, logic, and reason. However, the Bible teaches us that Jesus is the Truth. Truth is a person, and he is absolute. Jesus is Lord over all, he defines our reality, and by his grace we can know the Truth in a personal way.
