Are You Satisfied?

July 24, 2022 • Lorenzo Elizondo • 1 Timothy 6:3–10

Our culture is taught to never be content. The world tells us to always chase something better and stack more money. However, Paul calls this craving empty. True satisfaction can only be found in Christ and him alone.

What About Slavery?

July 17, 2022 • Lorenzo Elizondo • 1 Timothy 6:1–2

In order to understand Paul’s instructions to slaves can be a difficult passage to read through without understanding its context and purpose. However, God’s Word has made the separation between indentured servanthood and kidnapping (Antebellum slavery) clear. Servanthood was a means of providing for the poor, and ensured the well-being of both parties involved. However, the stealing of people in to forced labor has always been prohibited (Exodus 21:16). With this framework in mind, Paul’s words become clear and point us to the gospel.
