Submission

November 6, 2022 • submission • Psalm 127:1, Proverbs 16

Life does not seem to wait for anyone. We are constantly pressured to declare our next steps and future plans. Other times we just love our own plans and ideas and are convinced they are correct. However, God tests our hearts. We can make all the plans we want; ultimately, He is the one who will direct our steps. That is why it is so important that we submit to Him. In this message Pastor Bruce McCleland lists the questions we need to ask about our plans: Do they honour God’s will? Do they acknowledge His timing? Who do they glorify? Pastor Bruce explains how good submission to God encourages, equips and empowers us.

Service

October 30, 2022 • Megan McCleland • Luke 22:7, John 13:1–17, Luke 14:12–14

Jesus washed His disciples’ feet even though He was their teacher. What a selfless act of love and service! How many of us would go out of our way to serve others in this way? To deny ourselves and give freely, especially in today’s culture of “I'll only do for you what you’ll do for me”. In this message, Pastor Megan McCleland delves into the spiritual discipline of service which involves the willful laying down of one’s time, talent and treasure for the benefit of another by God's grace. She looks at what a lack of service can lead to, and at the blessings that result from when our hearts are right and we serve others as we become mature believers.

Study

October 23, 2022 • Ps Anthony Liebenberg • Luke 24:27, John 5:39, James 1:15, 2 Timothy 3:16–17, Psalm 119:104

Most of us admire great men and women. Often we aspire to be them. However, their success did not happen overnight. They studied for it, learnt hard, sacrificed, and persevered. Their growth came it a cost. It required discipline. If we want to grow and become mature in Christ, we need to seek the wisdom of his Spirit and study His Word, diligently. The Bible says every Scripture has been inspired by the Holy Spirit, the breath of God. If we meditate on it and study it, it will empower us by its instruction and correction. It will give us strength to take the right direction, and lead us deeper into the path of godliness. In this message, Pastor Anthony Liebenberg helps us to get started.

Fasting

October 16, 2022 • Ps Anthony Liebenberg • Mark 1:35, Luke 11:5, Luke 10:2, Luke 4:14, Luke 5:16

Jesus lived the model life on earth. Yet, even Jesus needed to get away from it all, go up the mountain and speak to His Father, all night long. He went out into the wilderness and fasted before He started His own ministry. Prayer and fasting drown out the noise. While it makes us physically weak, our spirit becomes more sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Less becomes more. Empty becomes full. Weak becomes strong. In this message, Pastor Anthony Liebenberg takes a look at the role fasting and prayer play in our road to spiritual maturity. It challenges our egos and tenderises our spirit. It is the door that ushers in the The Kingdom of God.

Maturity and Meditation

October 9, 2022 • Ps Bruce McCleland • Psalm 119:15, Psalm 1, Joshua 1:8, Ephesians 2:19–22

Do you meditate? “No. I just don’t have the time,” you might say. But actually, we do meditate. We just don’t meditate on God. We meditate on what worries us, on how we compare to others on social media, and on where to next in our fast-paced lives. Pastor Bruce McCleland takes us back to the importance of Christian meditation in this message. It centres us back toward the glory and grace of God. It brings character growth, stability, courage and peace to our lives. Most of all, Christian mediation allows us to find and follow God’s heart for us.

Maturity in Prayer and meditation

October 2, 2022 • Ps Bruce McCleland • 1 Samuel 16:4, Psalm 27, Luke 6:45, Colossians 1:28–29, 2 Corinthians 4:16

Maturity begins on the inside and manifests itself outward, but the change has to start inside first and that first starts with prayer. In essence it boils down to, when we pray, not to want things from God, but rather to want more of God. But how do we get there? In this message Pastor Bruce McCleland gives us four steps, starting with recognising that our priorities are out of whack. Prayer really is about reorientation and recalibration. If we do that, prayer puts God first and becomes communion with Him, moments to adore.

Maturity for the sake of others

September 25, 2022 • Hebrews 5:11–14, Judges 6:1–32, Judges 6:4, Judges 6:10

Have you ever wondered why you sometimes don’t seem to grow as a Christian or produce fruit? If you are spiritually immature, you are allowing the devil to have power over you and dominate your life. Thankfully God meets us where we are and leads us to where we need to be, to a place where we can be spiritually mature and our maturity can make the impact He intended. In this message Pastor Anthony Liebenberg helps us understand that while we might think we are ill equipped, God is more than equipped to take us there.
