Text:
Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

This weekend... The “bottom line of understanding” is this... That...
TO PLEASE GOD - FAITH IS REQUIRED!

Luke 9:25 “For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?”

This group of people could give up their possessions and endure persecutions... Because they had FAITH and BELIEVED God.

What did they BELIEVE? In what did they have FAITH? They had BELIEVED that:
• This life is temporal
• Material gain would soon be gone • Suffering would be short-lived They had TRUST (Faith) that through Jesus Christ they:
• Were born again
• Had inherited eternal life
• Were filled with God’s power

The Greek word for FAITH is pistis (pis’ tis) - it means:
• Belief
• Trust

One definition put it this way... FAITH is taking God at His Word!
Another definition put it this way... FAITH is the ability to believe without
demanding proof.
Belief
- A state or habit of mind... In which trust or confidence is placed in some person or thing
- Something that is accepted, considered to be true
- Conviction of truth
Trust
- Assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something

Romans 10:17 “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”

Acts 14:7-10
7) ...and there they continued to preach the gospel. Paul and Barnabas at Lystra

8 Now at Lystra there was a man sitting who could not use his feet. He was crippled from birth and had never walked.

9 He listened to Paul speaking. And Paul, looking intently at him and seeing that he had faith to be made well,

10 said in a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet.” And he sprang up and began walking.

Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek."

Acts 8:5-8
5 Philip went down to the city of Samaria and proclaimed to them the Christ.

6 And the crowds with one accord paid attention to what was being said by Philip, when they heard him and saw the signs that he did.

7 For unclean spirits, crying out with a loud voice, came out of many who had them, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed.

8 So there was much joy in that city.

James 2:17 says, “So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”

John 15:7 says, “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”
