All I Want is Some Peace & Quiet

Servant of All

May 5, 2019 • Pastor Tim Cruz

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Mark 4: 35-38 ESV
“35 On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.”

36 And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him.

37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling.

38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?”

Mark 4: 39 ESV & NIV
39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

“Quiet! Be still!”

Mark 4:40-41 ESV
“40 He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?”

41 And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

All I Want is Some Peace & Quiet

“Trying to know God and serve Him before we come to love Him is exhausting.”

“He must become greater; I must become less.”

We worry too much about the outcome of things, we forget that God has already taken care of it.

“To see with the eyes of faith is, first, not to see with the eyes of fear, or anxiety, or despair, or victimhood, but to see with the eyes of faith, which sees beyond the clouds, beyond the darkness, beyond the grave, even beyond the gates, to live in the Light and Life Everlasting”

Be Still

Psalm 46:10 NIV
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Colossians 3:15 NIV
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

Philippians 4:7 NIV
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Matthew 6: 33 NIV
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
