John 14:16-17

16 “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,

17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.”

John 14:17 "You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you."

John 14:25 "I have spoken to you while I am with you."

John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”

John 15:26 "When the Counselor comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness to me."

John 16:13 “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.”

1 Corinthians 2:10-12
“These things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person's thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.”

John 1:1-3
In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made.

Romans 8:9-11
“You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.”

The Holy Spirit Had A Role In Creation

Genesis 1:1-2

1 "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

2 The earth was without form1 and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”

The Holy Spirit Had A Role In Salvation

John 3:5
“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.”

1 Corinthians 12:3
“No one can say ‘Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit.”

The Holy Spirit Has A Role In Sanctification

Romans 8:13
“For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.”

2 Thessalonians 2:13
“But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the first fruits to be saved, through sanctification ( by the Spirit ) and belief in the truth.”

Romans 8:5-8
“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ (that is Holy Spirit) does not belong to him.

2 Corinthians 13:14 “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”

The Holy Spirit’s role in our lives... and our understanding of that role... is vital to our THRIVING here on earth in Christ! Romans 11:20-21 20 That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief (explain the branches), but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you. Scriptures like this one... sometimes cause people to question their faith. Understanding Salvation: Romans 10:9-10 9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. You Believe You Confess You Receive by Faith the promise of God I confess Jesus Christ IS Lord! I believe in my heart that God raised Jesus from the dead! I received by faith... The Salvation of the Lord through Jesus Christ! You are Forgiven! You have New Life! You have been given the Holy Spirit You possess Eternal Life You have just received God’s gift of Salvation! Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Salvation through Christ and the Cross, Grace and the Holy Spirit can only be received by Faith The Holy Spirit is our PRESERVER. Ephesians 1:13-14 13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:13 When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit. Revelation 14:1 I looked, and behold, the Lamb was standing on Mount Zion, and with Him, one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His name and the name of His Father written on their foreheads. Saved Sanctified Sealed by the Holy Spirit All of this transpires at Salvation! 2 Corinthians 4:16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. Matthew 24:9 Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake. Luke 22:42 Jesus said, Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done. Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Philippians 2:12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Revelations 21:4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. Romans 5:5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

One of the main purposes of the Holy Spirit is for the work of Sanctification in our lives! Sanctification is "the state of proper functioning." To Sanctify is to set that person or thing apart for its intended use for which it was purposed by its designer. God's design and purposes. To be set apart... Means to be made HOLY! 1. Sanctification... begins at salvation 2. Sanctification... will continue throughout our whole lives Judges 15:14 “As Samson arrived at Lehi, the Philistines came shouting in triumph. But the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon Samson, and he snapped the ropes on his arms as if they were burnt strands of flax, and they fell from his wrists.” 1 Chronicles 12:18 “Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, the leader of the Thirty, and he said, ‘We are yours, David! We are on your side, son of Jesse. Peace and prosperity be with you, and success to all who help you, for your God is the one who helps you.’ So David let them join him, and he made them officers over his troops. Psalm 51:11 “Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me.” Ezekiel 11:5 “Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon me, and he told me to say, “This is what the Lord says to the people of Israel: I know what you are saying, for I know every thought that comes into your minds.” John 14:17 “He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.” Two key things we read here... 1. The Holy Spirit will lead people in all Truth. 2. The Holy Spirit will be in you. Jesus promised that after His resurrection God would send the Holy Spirit. He would not just be with them (the disciples), but He would be IN THEM! 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body”. Your body after conversion and now being a Christ-follower becomes a TEMPLE of the Hoy Spirit! The BELIEVER in Christ has become the inner sanctum of God and this is where the Holy Spirit dwells. Ephesians 1:7 “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.” The Scripture actually says that the believer is inhabited or in-dwelt spiritually in three ways: 1. By God - Jesus Christ Colossians 1:27 “To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” 2. By God - The Father... 1 John 4:15 “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.” 3. By God - The Holy Spirit! The main purpose for God placing His Holy Spirit within us is to Renovate both our Heart... and our Mind Pertaining to the heart: Jeremiah 17:9 says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? Pertaining to the mind: Romans 8:7 says, “For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. 8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” Romans 3:10 “None is righteous, no, not one.” Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fallen short... of the glory of God!” 1 Peter 1:15-16 says, “but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 1 Corinthians 6:11 “But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” Ezekiel 36:26 “And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” No matter Who you are, Where you are, or What you are, God cares about you and he LOVES you! God has not given up on you! He is just waiting for your invitation to come and live in your heart!
