It was 1914 when President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed Mother’s Day a national holiday to be held on the second Sunday of May. This day was set aside to honor the ladies in our families who have taken on the task of motherhood. An honor greatly deserved! 2 Timothy 1:5 “I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.” Luke 1:26-35 “n the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin's name was Mary. 28 And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” 29 But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. 30 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.’ 34 And Mary said to the angel, ‘How will this be, since I am a virgin?’ 35 And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.” The Power of SPIRIT-Mom In Romans 16:13... Paul is sending his personal greeting to his friends in Rome. He says, effectively, “Say hi to Rufus...and to his mother who was a mother to me.” Mark 15:21 “And they compelled a passerby, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross.” Three Ways to Thrive At Being a Spiritual Mother 1️⃣ Be Lead By the Holy Spirit God will bring people into your life that He wants you to mentor. • Let Him lead it. • Be available. • It will happen naturally. 2️⃣ Love Like A Mother Loves Whether she is a... • biological, • foster, • step, • or adoptive mom All mothers have offered a glimpse into the “love chapter” in the Bible... 1 Corinthians 13:4-6 says, “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." This portrait of... Perfect Love... Can be seen through these imperfect ladies in the things that they do EVERY DAY! From... • Their simple acts • Their unrelenting patience • Their profound endurance Mothers stand as an example of the impact of love. 3️⃣ Believe In Them There is a powerful dynamic that takes place when someone believes in us. • Encourage them • Call out their strengths • Shoot straight with them • Spend Time with them • Give them responsibility

#Text Mark 5:21-43 21 “And when Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the other side, a great crowd gathered about him, and he was beside the sea. 22 Then came one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, and seeing him, he fell at his feet 23 and implored him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well and live.” 24 And he went with him. And a great crowd followed him and thronged about him. 25 And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, 26 and who had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better but rather grew worse. 27 She had heard the reports about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his garment. 28 For she said, “If I touch even his garments, I will be made well.” 29 And immediately the flow of blood dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. 30 And Jesus, perceiving in himself that power had gone out from him, immediately turned about in the crowd and said, “Who touched my garments?” 31 And his disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing around you, and yet you say, ‘Who touched me?’” 32 And he looked around to see who had done it. 33 But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling and fell down before him and told him the whole truth. 34 And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.” 35 “While he was still speaking, there came from the ruler's house some who said, ‘Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?’ 36 But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.” 37 And he allowed no one to follow him except Peter and James and John the brother of James.” 38 “They came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and Jesus saw a commotion, people weeping and wailing loudly. 39 And when he had entered, he said to them, “Why are you making a commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but sleeping. 40 And they laughed at him. But he put them all outside and took the child's father and mother and those who were with him and went in where the child was. Let’s be clear... This piece of the story is not about HEALING... This part of the story is about RESURRECTION!” 41 “Taking her by the hand he said to her, “Talitha cumi,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise. 42 And immediately the girl got up and began walking (for she was twelve years of age), and they were immediately overcome with amazement. 43 And he strictly charged them that no one should know this, and told them to give her something to eat.” #1 Jesus... Is partial to no class! #2 Jesus... Is Never Too Busy! #3 Jesus... Is not limited or controlled by time! #4 Jesus... Has power over both sickness and death! Jesus Fully In Control!

Mark 5:1-20 1 They came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gerasenes. 2 And when Jesus had stepped out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit. 3 He lived among the tombs. And no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain, 4 for he had often been bound with shackles and chains, but he wrenched the chains apart, and he broke the shackles in pieces. No one had the strength to subdue him. 5 Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always crying out and cutting himself with stones. 6 And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and fell down before him. 7 And crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.” 8 For he was saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” 9 And Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” He replied, “My name is Legion, for we are many.” 10 And he begged him earnestly not to send them out of the country. 11 Now a great herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, 12 and they begged him, saying, “Send us to the pigs; let us enter them.” 13 So he gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out and entered the pigs; and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the sea. 14 The herdsmen fled and told it in the city and in the country. And people came to see what it was that had happened. 15 And they came to Jesus and saw the demon-possessed man, the one who had had the legion, sitting there, clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid. 16 And those who had seen it described to them what had happened to the demon-possessed man and to the pigs. 17 And they began to beg Jesus to depart from their region. 18 As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him. 19 And he did not permit him but said to him, “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” 20 And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled. Jesus has ALL power! Luke 8:27 “When Jesus had stepped out on land, there met him a man from the city who had demons. For a long time he had worn no clothes, and he had not lived in a house but among the tombs.” Matthew 8:28 “And when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men met him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce that no one could pass that way.” Demons cannot help but to submit to Jesus... They have to! Philippians 2:10-11... “So that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Luke 8:31 (Lukes reading of the same story): 31 " And they begged him not to command them to depart into the abyss.” Matthew 8:32 “And he said to them, “Go.” So they came out and went into the pigs, and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the waters.” Three Observations 1️⃣ We must be careful what we allow into our lives! 2️⃣ When God solves our problems it will cost us our pigs! 3️⃣ When demons roar we do not need to be afraid if we know the Lord!
All I Want is Some Peace & Quiet

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 4: 35-38 ESV “35 On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” 36 And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. 38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” Mark 4: 39 ESV & NIV 39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. “Quiet! Be still!” Mark 4:40-41 ESV “40 He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” 41 And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” All I Want is Some Peace & Quiet “Trying to know God and serve Him before we come to love Him is exhausting.” “He must become greater; I must become less.” We worry too much about the outcome of things, we forget that God has already taken care of it. “To see with the eyes of faith is, first, not to see with the eyes of fear, or anxiety, or despair, or victimhood, but to see with the eyes of faith, which sees beyond the clouds, beyond the darkness, beyond the grave, even beyond the gates, to live in the Light and Life Everlasting” Be Still Psalm 46:10 NIV “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Colossians 3:15 NIV “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” Philippians 4:7 NIV “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Matthew 6: 33 NIV “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
