More than a vacation, this is an unparalleled opportunity for grandparents, parents, and kids to walk together through the story of faith and freedom that shaped our country. America’s storyteller, Dr. Bob Petterson, will weave a spellbinding narrative that makes history come alive at the monuments on the National Mall, in the Bible Museum, and on a boat ride down the Potomac to historical Mount Vernon. More than that, this tour will inspire everyone to carry our precious legacy of faith and freedom forward.
Could there be a better time to visit our nation’s capital than July 2026 when America’s 250th Birthday bash is in full swing? Or a better place than at a beautiful hotel off the Mall—with panoramic views, rooftop swimming pool, breakfast, and close access to the monuments and museums that stir both faith and patriotism?
Could there be a better gift to the kids you love most than to give them a legacy of faith that will last a lifetime and point them to eternity? And to give it to them at a cost that is far less than a trip to Disney World—and infinitely more valuable!
ITINERARY
TUESDAY, 21 JULY: Check in the Hyatt Place DC/Washington Mall by 3 pm. We will enjoy our own trolley car guided tour of historic Washington DC, followed by a welcome pizza dinner. The rest of the evening is free a dip in the rooftop pool or just enjoying a panoramic view at sunset with an appetizer in the rooftop garden.
WEDNESDAY, 22 JULY: After an early breakfast, we head out at 8:30 am for our Mall walk. Dr. Bob will give short educational and inspirational “kid” talks at the Washington, World War 2, Korean, Lincoln, Vietnam, and Signers of the Constitution Monuments, weaving together a story of America’s history.
At 11:30 we will enjoy lunch on our own at the rooftop café in the Museum of the Bible. Then we will tour the museum, learning together how the Bible was put together and how it shaped the faith and freedoms we enjoy. At 3pm our group tour will wrap up. The rest of the afternoon and evening are free for family time. Some may want to stay longer at the Museum of the Bible, visit some of the free Smithsonian museums close by, or walk back to the hotel to enjoy its amenities.
THURSDAY, 23 JULY: After another early breakfast at the Hyatt, we will climb aboard our boat for a scenic and historical trip down the Potomac River to Mount Vernon, the magnificent plantation of George and Martha Washington. There we will immerse ourselves in the founding of America and enjoy lunch on our own.
After our boat docks back to DC, we will enjoy the rest of the afternoon with free time for families to visit nearby sites, relax in the rooftop swimming pool or grab a snack.
We will then go to a nearby Mexican Eatery for a festive meal and farewell dinner. You can bet that there will be lots of wonderful memories to share from walking across history together.
FRIDAY, 24 JULY: Breakfast at the Hyatt, and then checkout by 11 am. Later checkout must be arranged with the hotel staff. After celebrating America’s 250th Birthday we will head home better inspired and equipped to live out our legacy of faith and freedom—and to pass it on to others.
