ITINERARY
SUNDAY, 15 MARCH: Our tour begins in Tel Aviv. We drive north to the amazing ruins at Caesarea, one of the wonders of the ancient world. From there we travel across the Jezreel Valley where biblical history was forged. Tonight we lodge by the Sea of Galilee at the Magdala Hotel, located at the newly excavated site where Mary Magdalene met Jesus.
MONDAY, 16 MARCH: After a luxurious breakfast buffet, we head north to visit the Mount of Beatitudes, then on to the ruins of Caesarea Philippi, and up to the Golan Heights on the border of Syria. We return to Capernaum, enjoy lunch, and then an unforgettable boat ride across the Sea of Galilee to the amazing Boat Museum to see one of Israel’s greatest archaeological discoveries. This evening we will enjoy dinner with an Israeli veteran of the wars that have shaped modern Israel.
TUESDAY, 17 MARCH: After a delightful breakfast, we begin our day on the seashore where Jesus forgave Peter. Then it’s on to the Jezreel Valley to Megiddo, the site of Armageddon, then to Mt. Carmel where Elijah brought down fire from heaven, and then across to Nazareth where we will visit the re-creation of the boyhood village of Jesus. Our day will culminate at a spectacular vista where we will see 4,000 years of history, from Abraham to Armageddon. We will then spend our last night at the Magdala Hotel.
WEDNESDAY, 18 MARCH: After our final breakfast in Galilee, we will head down the Jericho Valley, stopping at Gilgal on the Jordan River where Joshua crossed over and Jesus was baptized. Then we pause at Qumran, the site of the Dead Sea Scrolls, before going on to Masada for a breathtaking tour of one of history’s most inspiring spots. Then we go up to Jerusalem where we will spend four nights at the luxurious Inbal Hotel, rated by many as Israel’s best.
THURSDAY, 19 MARCH: After a magnificent breakfast, we will visit the Temple Mount, now known as the Dome of the Rock, but the site of the ancient temples of Solomon, Ezra, and Herod the Great. Then we will visit St. Peter of Gallicantu, where Jesus was tried by the Sanhedrin, go down into the pit where he was imprisoned, stand on the spot where Peter denied his Master, and touch the same steps where our Lord walked down to the Garden of Gethsemane. Later we will go to the excavations of David’s palace, walk down Hezekiah’s tunnel, and visit the ancient pool of Siloam. After lunch, we will go to the Garden Tomb where we will share communion together. We will end the day sharing dinner with a Palestinian Christian leader who will share his unique perspective.
FRIDAY, 20 MARCH: After an early breakfast, we will bus to the Mount of Olives where Jesus ascended to heaven, then walk to where he wept over Jerusalem, travel the path he took on Palm Sunday, visit the Garden of Gethsemane, and cross the Kidron Valley to the gate where Stephen became the first Christian martyr. We will visit the Pool of Bethesda, and then follow the Way of the Cross, going down beneath the city to the actual place where he was scourged, and standing on the real pavement he walked to the Cross two millennia ago. We will visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, eat lunch at a rooftop restaurant overlooking the Old City. Then we will visit the Western Wall, the holiest spot in Judaism, before heading back to the hotel for rest and dinner on our own. For the adventurous, Dr. Bob offers an evening trip back to the Western Wall for Sabbath evening. To see thousands of Jews celebrating there is a joyous experience.
SATURDAY, 21 MARCH: On this Jewish Sabbath we will enjoy a leisurely breakfast and a free day to enjoy the spa and many amenities at the Inbal. Dr. Bob invites you to join him on a short walk to the Old City of Jerusalem for shopping and sightseeing on your own. Or you may want to walk the walls of Jerusalem with him. We will end our last day in Jerusalem with a farewell dinner on one of the most beautiful rooftop restaurants overlooking the Holy City.
SUNDAY, 22 MARCH: After a magical week, we will return to Tel Aviv for our flights home.
