Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me. Words have within them the power to bless, build, and sooth as well as curse, destroy, and torture. Leave less scars on others and take on less scars yourself; navigate life with wisdom.

Jesus gave us bread – broke it and gave it to His disciples. Jesus broke the bread and gave it away. Jesus took the wine, gave it to His disciples, and told them to drink it as a sign of the new relationship He was establishing. Jesus took the wine, poured it out, and served it. What if Christians, following Jesus, looked at their own lives as ready to be broken, poured out, and given to others?

While we can relish the love and grace God pours over our lives, all too quickly we can forget that we are do something with it. Rather than place the love God has for us on a shelf and admire it, we are called to put it into action. Love moves out beyond us and our comfort zones and causes us to see other’s needs and meet them.
