The Sacrifice Of Jesus

Arrested and Condemned (John 18:1-14, 1 Peter 2:21-23)

March 21, 2021 • Vince DiPaola

The last 17 hours of Jesus Christ’s life on earth leading up to His crucifixion were the most agonizing anyone has ever lived through. Beginning with His prayer to God the Father to prepare for what He was about to go through on Thursday night, all the way through His six hours on the torturous cross on Friday, Jesus was taxed and tested physically, relationally, mentally, morally and (most significantly) spiritually like no one else. While many have speculated theories as to why this happened, we will explore the ultimate reason: this happened so that Jesus could satisfy the righteous demands of God the Father and offer us both a rescue from our sin and a model to follow in our life. Thankfully, Jesus validated this truth by rising from the dead on Easter Sunday! We will examine the sacrifice of Jesus so that we can have this same rescue from our own sin and find the perfect model to live by when we suffer hardship in our own lives.
