The kings of Israel fail to follow God, and both the Northern and Southern Kingdoms of Israel were eventually overthrown, and the people find themselves in exile. In the midst of the exile, God draws near to His people yet again and promises a New Covenant with His people that would not be marked by laws and geography but by people with new hearts.

God's Presence - David & the Temple

The Israelites struggle to keep the covenant that God had made with Moses, and they eventually elect a king to govern them in God’s ways. God raises up King David to lead His people, and cuts a covenant with David that he will always have a descendent as king of His people. Eventually David’s son, King Solomon, builds the temple, which would serve as the permanent dwelling place of God.
