Josephine explains the lyrics for Futility Freedom. It’s a song about the futility of life and our desperate need for the gospel to be made known to so many in this world.
She teaches Colossians 1:15 as the inspiration for the opening lines, “Life’s all inside You Jesus, all creation was made through you.”
The gospel is the message of life, and it’s found in knowing and having a relationship with Jesus. Josephine gives testimony to her past - “the devil’s roaring round like a roaring lion. But his roar just isn’t as loud as the message of hope,” Lyrics Futility Freedom.
Have you heard the message of hope? Do you know hope?
“Jesus, You died to set me free from this futility
Jesus, You loved me to die to set me free,” Chorus, Futility Freedom.
That is the gospel - Jesus laid down His life for His sheep. He’s the good Shepherd. And God intended us to meet with Him and know the Savior of our soul - the One that redeems.
God has made right in my life what the devil made very wrong.
I didn’t deserve what happened to me. It was an attempt by the devil to stop me from finding the meaning of life. And he’s working hard in so many people’s lives. To make them think that God isn’t good or God isn’t caring.
I was a singer-songwriter before. And that’s what the devil used. A man came into my life and became my manager and almost destroyed me. But it’s always been God’s purpose for me to sing. He’s always wanted me to write music. And He wants me to write with knowledge and write with truth so people can sing with understanding. Worship songs should bring an understanding of the gospel; they should bring an understanding of Jesus. It says in Colossians that we are to teach one another other through Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs.
The Psalms of the Bible really teaches, and so are songs written by songwriters who are servants of the Lord. They need to bring a knowledge of the truth, a knowledge of the Savior because we need to be encouraged into maturity. And people need to hear the gospel.
