Advent means "coming" or "arrival" and anticipates the coming of Jesus. No biblical book foreshadows and looks forward to Jesus like the prophet Isaiah. The traditional Advent themes of Hope, Joy, Peace, and Love can all be found in the book.
Hope is to act in the present based upon our expectation of the future that is not yet seen. The quality and strength of our hope is imperative for our joy in the present. In Isaiah 11:1-10, we see that in Jesus there is hope: in the darkness, for true justice, of restoration, and for all people.
