"Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, 'Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.'" Matthew 2:1-2
These wise men, guided by a star, embarked on a journey prompted by a simple yet profound question: "Where is the newborn king of the Jews?" Their hearts were stirred, and their quest led them to Jerusalem, fueled by the sight of a rising star that signaled the birth of a king.
We can find resonance in the magi's inquiry. It mirrors our own inner longing, our deep-seated desire to encounter the divine and bow in worship before the King of Kings.
Pause and consider the simplicity of the wise men's quest. They were not deterred by the complexity of their journey or the opulence of the destination; instead, they sought the newborn king with sincerity and humility.
This morning, let us embrace the spirit of the wise men. Like them, may we be attuned to the signs that guide us toward Jesus. As we follow the light of His presence, may our hearts be filled with awe and reverence, drawing us into a posture of worship and adoration.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, as we embark on our own journeys during this Advent season, may we, like the wise men, seek the Light of the world with open hearts. Guide us by the light of Your Word, and may our worship be sincere and transformative. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
